Super Motocross is a free game that lets you jump into the thrilling world of Motocross.
The game is set in a 2.5D world where the player moves along a 2D plane in a detailed 3D environment on a selection of Motocross bikes that you can unlock by beating the various levels in under certain times.
The game starts you off with just one motorbike and one level to complete and challenges you to get either a bronze, silver or gold trophy. If you only get a bronze trophy on the level then you unlock the next stage and that process repeats itself throughout the game. If you manage to get a certain number of silver and gold trophies you begin to unlock different bikes.
Each new bike you get has improved statistics and helps you complete the new races you've unlocked in quicker times. The stats involved are weight and power. The better the bike, the lower the weight and the higher the power. This helps with both speed and maneuverability as a lighter bike will be easier to move around as well as being quicker across the course.
The game controls using the arrow keys which work perfectly well. Up arrow and down arrow control acceleration and deceleration whilst the left and right arrow control the pitch of your bike. It's important to make sure that when you're speeding over the course you don't pitch to far forwards or backwards as you may not land a jump and could end the level early. If you're used to WASD controls then switching back to the much more old school arrows controls may be a bit of a pain but you should adjust quickly.
The game is a free game and plays much like the flash games that amused us for hours on end in the old days of the internet. It's very simple and quite basic so if you're the type to bore easily of incrementally harder, but repetitive gameplay then this might not be the game for you. It's very addictive once you start playing though and the upgrade system and well designed levels give you a reason to keep playing on and seeing what levels and bikes are coming next.
At the end of the day, Super Motocross is a good fun way to pass the time, super easy controls and an attractive art style make this as an easy, if shallow, choice for even the most casual of gamers.
